Nike SB come through with a second Air Force 1 colourway, with the sequel landing in a Flax/Flax-Black-Gum Light Brown colourway. The perfect summer stomper as we head into the warmer months.

The Air Force 1 started life as a groundbreaking innovation in the basketball shoe game, and, after enduring the decades of changes in the sport, as well as in the streets and in pop culture, returns, this time read for the board. The iconic silhouette has been rebuilt from the top up, making skate-ready adjustments to take it seamlessly from the courts to the griptape.

The succeeding SB effort brings an (almost) all-flax colourway, evocative of Timberlands, to Nike’s most popular silhouette, which was originally designed by Bruce Kilgore and brought the innovative Air Sole to the courts, and ultimately changed street culture for good.

The summer ready colourway keeps the originals minimalist aesthetic at its core, wrapping the upper almost entirely in a Flax suede, interrupted only by custom chrome SB-1 dubraes and black branding on the heel and tongue tabs. This all sits on top of a matching Flax midsole and rubber tread outsole, not breaking the Flax treatment underfoot.

With feedback on earlier iterations driven by Nike SB riders, you know the shoe is prepped for the demands of modern skateboarding, blending the spirit of innovation that birthed the OG with skate-specific engineering, delivering a lighter silhouette with a strong focus on boardfeel; the revamped version maintains the classic heightened midsole aesthetic but lowers the footbed and cuts the midsole in half to allow closer contact to the board.

Digging deeper into the details and tech, the Air unit provides cushioning in the heel, whilst keeping crucial forefoot flexibility, and a revised toe profile and stitch-turned seams bring flick and durability to the party. Underfoot, a modified herringbone tread pattern gives optimal grip and flexibility, and reinforced padded tongue, internal sit straps and fit pods in the collar lining allow skaters to feel secure and comfy on their board.
