"Break Your Legs" - EC Melodi
Skate videos emanating from America's East Coast evoke a serious feeling of kinship within the UK scene, with the strains of street crust, grit, and grime a shared experience. Skatepark-grade Californian street spots and spirit-level smooth Euro plazas seem a world away as we mutually steer the unevenness of old-world thoroughfares on wheels rarely exceeding 55mm, but, for all its drawbacks, our requited wrestle on four wheels makes for some exciting viewing.
EC Melodi represent a new generation of East Coast crust crusaders, tossing caution to the wind and unafraid to take a hefty bite of asphalt. Break Your Legs tells you all you should need to know - this crew skates first and thinks of the consequences later, and Lucas Bin's wince-inducing slam section at the midway mark testifies to that. Spoiler alert: he doesn't get the trick. But perhaps the commitment to eating shit was the trick all along? One things for certain: armed with studded belts, edgy black wheels, and Erik Ellington's hair dye supply circa 2005, the kid's are gonna eat this up.
