Why isn't Joey O'Brien one of the biggest names in the industry right now? Really, why? I mean, is he even in your top ten skaters list? Because he should be, if we're to look at things objectively.
Take this latest part for AWS for example. Three minutes of some of the most wonderfully curated skateboarding you're likely to witness in 2023, beautifully filmed, tastefully edited (it is alien Workshop after all) and hosted on Thrasher. But it only has 42k views in three days. What's going on there?
By rights the opening line in this should be going viral on every resharing page on Instagram and all the usual subjects should be waxing lyrical about "this being Joey O'Brien's year" and how "a SOTY nomination is already in the bag." Yet radio silence; it just boggles the mind!
So ignore the lack of fanfare (can one ignore the absence of something?) and get stuck into this. It doesn't matter what other people aren't saying, we're telling you Joey O'Brien rips!
