Red White and Blue
Skateboarding has always had its lanes, certainly as far as the media is concerned. Initially this was due to brand affiliation; Thrasher covered Indy and its adjacent companies, Transworld the Tracker Trucks stable, Big Brother was created to sell World Industries etc. etc.
In the modern era brand dilution means the 'lanes' theory more relates to skaters of a certain ilk; you're not gonna see Andy Schrock in Thrasher and, to be fair, we didn't expect to see Dylan Jaeb on Free's YouTube. Not to be dismissive of either Dylan or Free but one is Mr California and the other is Euro art show, if you catch our drift.
But via Jacob Palumbo's latest clip 'red white and blue,' his take on the great American road trip, Dylan Jaeb does appear on Free's YouTube (alongside Vincent Huhta, Eetu Toropainen and Cyprus Blanco) and his perfectly coiffured bonce doesn't look that out of place. Guess the lanes may well be merging. We'll keep an eye out for Johnny Giger's upcoming SOTY run...
