Struggling to Swallow a Snail
Did you hear the cautionary tale of Australian rugby player Sam Ballard? The long and the short of it isn't very nice, truth be told. Spurred on via a drunken dare on his Sydney porch back in 2010, the teen casually swallowed a slug, thinking little of it until he started to feel unwell. The resultant infection from Rat Lungworm Disease put him in a coma for a year, left him wheelchair bound for the rest of his days and ultimately took his life in late 2018. What I guess we're saying is, flippancy aside, it's probably for the best the creator of this video suggests one of their crew is "struggling to swallow a snail."
So, what does eating land based gastropods have to do with a group of antipodean rippers (including the ever-amazing Girl pro Rowan Davies) tearing it up through a long, hot Euro summer? Just your boy Rowan struggling to neck the French delicacy (cooked of course) in the B-roll that closes up this clip.
Ingestion of gourmet treats (or torture, as the case may be) aside, you really can't go wrong with a group of lads, in the prime of their life, tearing up Paris, Copenhagen, Berlin and London. The fact that it allows us to share warning of poor Sam Ballard's fatal mistake (as unintentional as it likely was) is a bonus.
