We’re very proud to say that we are a part of 1% For The Planet, a global network of businesses, individuals and non-profits committed to environmental giving. Since 2022 we have pledged to donate 1% of our Route One Collections annual sales to support environmental organisations working hard to ensure that our planet and future generations thrive. It’s like paying rent to the planet in return for the resources we use and whilst 1% might not sound like a lot, when we all do it, it adds up.
Currently, only 3% of charitable giving goes to the environment. That’s a minuscule amount for the immense task of ensuring our planet and future generations can thrive. It’s clear our earth needs and deserves a lot more, which is why two friends, Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, set up 1% for the Planet back in 2002. Since then, the 1% for the Planet movement has grown and inspired thousands of businesses and individuals to support a network of over 6000 approved environmental non-profits, amounting to a massive $635 million donated for the planet so far.
From now on, for every Route One collectionproduct you buy online or in our stores, we will give 1% of the sale to organisations tackling the world’s most pressing environmental issues. Look out for the 1% for the Planet logo on every Route One O.B product, including of course our jeans, shorts, t-shirts, accessories and skateboards.

Make Life Skate Life
Make Life Skate Life is a charity based in Brussels that builds skateparks in underprivileged communities around the world. We’re proud to help them to bring the positive benefits of skateboarding to those who need it most. As well as monetary support, we send decks and protective gear for use in the parks.
The Environmental Justice Foundation works with and for those on the frontlines of environmental destruction to investigate, document, and expose environmental and human rights abuses. At their core is a simple but powerful belief: we all depend on the natural environment for our livelihoods and well-being, and environmental security is a fundamental human right.
In 2022 we planted over 6000 trees in the UK with One Tree Planted. We know the skateboards we sell use wood, so we decided to plant a tree for every Route One deck sold to replace an estimated 60 times what would have been used in their production.
