Step back in time with us if you will, to the summer of 1998. Bill Clinton has just been impeached, Tony Hawk has yet to land a 900 and Chad Muska is the biggest name in planet skateboarding. Riding high on the wave of Muska's unassailable popularity, bolt-brand-cum-board company Shorty's can do no wrong and their brand new, full-length release 'Fulfill the Dream' is wearing down the heads of every skateboarder's VHS player the world over.
Then, like so many brands in the fickle business of skateboarding, Shorty became virtually irrelevant. Sure, 2001's 'Guilty' was a relative success and the brand limped on for a while but, compared to those halcyon days of '98, Shorty's as a epoch defining colossus was no more.
So it's great to see the brand resurrected, announcing their first new pro in over two decades: the one and only Ivan Monteiro! Sure, he might not have the swishy pants and charisma of late 90's Muska but the young Brazilian has the ability to shift a board or two, as we're sure he will with this brand new part!
Now we're just patiently waiting for a CD release of his Monteiro-Beats...
