Are You Ready? Korn x adidas Originals

Almost perfectly timed with the approach to spooky season, adidas Originals and nu-metal pioneers KoЯn come together once again for their third special capsule celebrating the unique relationship between the two.


Coming out of Bakersfield, CA., KoЯn originally formed in 1993. What has ensued since changed the course of the metal genre and alternative rock scenes forever. Known for their angsty, claustrophobic lyrics; downtuned sound and transcendence of genres, KoЯn have cemented themselves as one of the greats of the nu-metal scene, landing endless multi-platinum albums and countless accolades in the process.


30 years have passed since the band’s eponymous debut set the world alight, but KoЯn’s popularity and influence on the metal genre hasn’t dwindled. Their debut album set metal music on a new course, influencing the likes of Slipknot and Limp Bizkit, but the albums Life is Peachy and Follow the Leader propelled the band into the stratosphere.


The band’s connection with adidas is a deep and storied one. They have always had an affection for the brand, influenced by their self-described obsession with gangster rap and the sportswear clothing often donned by the rappers, immortalised by their 1996 track, A.D.I.D.A.S. But even at KoЯn’s peak in the 90s, a collab between the brands never materialised, leading to the nu-metal rebels taking it upon themselves to customise adidas clothing themselves and in the process creating some of the most recognisable outfits in rock history, including sparkly purple tracksuits and adidas kilts.


But adidas saw the light last year and the first KoЯn x adidas Originals capsule was released in late 2023. Paying tribute to the band’s album, Life is Peachy, which features the aforementioned A.D.I.D.A.S. track; the collection was spearheaded by the custom Supermodified silhouette. This was followed by a second capsule in May 2024, an homage to the album which saw the band cemented in metal history, Follow the Leader. This collection featured a return of the Supermodified alongside a fresh Campus 2 with a furry suede upper, a green sequined track top and matching track pants.

 

 

With two adidas collections already under their belt, it’s about time our attentions were turned to the 1994 album which altered the course of music history. To celebrate 30 years since the release of the self-titled album, adidas Originals will be releasing a special KoЯn edition Superstar, along with a whole host of other soft goods.


The centrepiece of the collection, the Superstar, is modelled after the shoes worn by frontman Jonathan Davis in the music video of their debut single, Blind. The shoes will take you back to the 90s (even if you’ve never been there) with a nostalgic yet modern take on adidas Originals’ iconic silhouette.

 

Coming in a clean black and white colourway, the Superstar features a premium all-leather upper. Transparent Three Stripes adorn the sides with customisable pattern slots, including album cover artwork, tartan and Korn x adidas branding. Golden Superstar branding in a KoЯn font sits beside the Three Stripes. On the heels, a white leather heel tab features KoЯn on the right shoe and the adidas trefoil on the left. At the front, the classic rubber shelltoe in off-white, which matches the midsole. This is all finished off with a gum rubber outsole. The shoes are accompanied by 90s style fat white laces, custom-printed cover artwork insoles, a custom box and a guitar pick tag.
