September the 10th sees the Guildhall in Southampton taken over by skateboarding.
SAOS are hosting an event to celebrate skateboarding and raise the awareness of the need to create and improve the facilities for it around Southampton city. The day will kick off with free skateboarding lessons for youngsters hosted by and give beginners a chance to get stuck in and experience what all the fuss is about… Then you can get stuck into multiple rounds of fun skateboarding challenges and contests that will encourage everyone to get involved, wow the crowds and hopefully walk away with loads of prizes! While all the ‘on board’ activity is underway various art pieces from The Solent Showcase Gallery will be on display for you to admire. This will feature existing pieces from the likes of Nova and Latchkey Kid, while other local artists will be creating new one off pieces LIVE in front of your eyes. They are then going to get torn down, never to be seen again! (so you don’t want to miss it)
