Hook-Ups was born in 1993 and is the brainchild of Jeremy Klein, one of the original team skaters for both World Industries and Tony Hawk’s Birdhouse. After a wild start to his skating career – think lighting fireworks from limos, smashing through America in a battered van and tricks through rings of fire – Klein grew the brand from the ground up on the back of his career, becoming well known for his glistening, risqué hentai deck designs and Mortal Kombat themed lo-fi print ads.
Although enjoying their golden age in the mid-90s, Hook-Ups have continued to create their tongue-in-cheek Japanese designs through the years, and apply them to this latest collection of footwear and clothing, combining with skateboard heavyweights Etnies on this limited capsule collection.
Featuring the Marana skate shoe in three core colours, Royal, Black and Burgundy this shoe has been reimagined with Japanese logo, manga insole and killer packaging. Also including the Scout shoe in Black, a classically inspired zip hood, t-shirt and socks, this collection takes on board Hook-Ups unmistakeable Japanese schoolgirl flavour throughout and does not disappoint.
Whether you remember Hook-Ups for the “good ol’ days”, or are a fan of Japanese pop-culture, this collection is sure to create a stir.
