'Let it Kill You' The Legacy of Michael Sieben

Jul 2024 by Route One

To long time readers of Thrasher magazine, or fans of Roger Skateboards, the name Michael Sieben requires no introduction. But, as we appreciate not everyone is decades deep in the game like some of us older folk, if you need a little help being brought up to speed, let us fill you in.

Born and raised in Austin, skateboard enthusiast Michael began by making 'zines back in the 1980's. Fortuitously crossing paths with Toy Machine's Ed Templeton, in town for a Fugazi show, the gift of a handful of editions eventually found their way into (current) Thrasher Editor Michael Burnett's hands and the rest, as they say, is history.

An avid skater and fantastic artist, Michael Sieben's work has garnished everything from art gallery walls to Volcom tees. Tenured by Thrasher and creating art for the biggest brands in the game, few people have influenced the aesthetic side of skateboarding like the soft spoken Texas native and this Vice mini doc tells you everything you need to know about the man himself. So give it a watch now!
