A boundary-pushing shoe befitting a stellar skater, Ishod Wair returns with his second pro model silhouette for Nike SB. These days, receiving a professional shoe is a rarity and collecting a second even more so; gone are the times of incremental tinkering to achieve the perfect product, but Nike SB are willing to make exceptions for the very best. Ishod’s latest addresses the feedback received for his first and brings his pro model closer in line with his original vision: a technically advanced skate shoe with an impeccable fit and a facelift to match.
Introducing the Air Max Ishod, a revolution in skate shoe technology. The new model overhauls the fit of its predecessor, trading a traditional lacing system for basketball-inspired leather eye stays linked to an internal caging system, giving the shoe a form-fitting feel and secure structure for comfort and support. Borrowing mesh side panelling from the original, the Air Max Ishod retains a lightweight and breathable construction, allowing it to be extra extravagant with its blend of materials throughout the rest of the shoe. Tactical suede, rubber, and leather panelling compounds across the upper for lasting durability, smooth flick, and an overstated, Y2K-style aesthetic.
However, despite its unique look, the defining characteristic of the new Ishod is hidden away in its footbed, hinted at by a familiar Moulded TPU window in the shoe’s heel. Nike SB have overhauled their React insole with cushioning Air Max tech, embedding an Air Max bubble into the sockliner and simultaneously combining the midsole and insole into one. This keeps the shoe flexible, giving it the impact dampening qualities of a cupsole shoe, but keeping the board feel and control of a vulcanised model.
