Vans x London Skates Dominate Era 95 DX | London Calling

From the smoothed sidewalks of the Golden State to London’s hotchpotch of historical paving, skateboarding’s second cultural boom went transatlantic. The late ‘70s saw Britain embracing boards, contradicting the idyllic surf-style of their Californian counterparts and rehoming skateboarding on rugged streets backdropped by its blocky, brutalist architecture: the latest imported ingredient in London’s melting pot of culture.

LONDON CALLING! took us back in time, a weekend of events and exhibitions
between August 17th & 20th 2023 harking back to London’s skateboarding explosion of the seventies. The event provided plenty of opportunities to soak up some skate history, with exhibitions at the Pure Evil Gallery in Shoreditch, a skate forum and meet and greets with special guest Tony Alva, skate sessions at Bay 66 and a special performance from DEVO as part of "The Farewell Tour".

Celebrating 50 years of London skate history, the pioneers of skate shoe footwear Vans team up with the Big Smoke's answer to the Z-Boys, London Skates Dominate, to rerelease a limited run of the original colourway of the original skate shoe, the style #95 Era, with some additional L.S.D flair.

The remastered shoe uses the original Anaheim mould for an authentic fit and feel that's true to its 70s origins, and features a vibrant red/blue canvas upper amplified by cool contrast stitching and matching white laces.
|
Classic white sidewalls sit over the iconic Vans Waffle sole, with custom London Skates Dominate graphics across the heel panel and insole rounding out the look. Each pair arrives in a classic "Off The Wall" blue shoebox, with further L.S.D graffiti work and an "aged" design - a faithful recreation of an old school, battered shoebox, perfectly repurposed for sticker storage, spare hardware and the like!
