For fans of late 90's and early 00's skateboarding, the name Robbie McKinley is synonymous with style. Hailing from California's Inland Empire, the McKinley lad's talents soon drew the attention of Girl Skateboards and a place on the defining team of the era was his reward. Peaking with a standout part in 2003's Yeah Right, Robbie's career seemingly stalled just as greatness appeared destined to be thrust upon him.
For those of you less concerned with those who never quite leapt from the precipice of opportunity, it's unlikely you'll be familiar with Robbie's work. Which is a shame as his skateboarding still stands up to this day, often drawing parallels with touring partner Chris Roberts (we're talking steezy tech here, not dry witted Podcast hosting!).
Tragically Robbie passed away earlier this year and whilst his career didn't reach the heights of his stablemates, the body of work he left behind remains a steadfast reminder of just what a special talent he was. Barrett Loose took it upon himself to collate this beautiful tribute to his friend and, regardless of whether the McKinley name meant anything to you before reading this post, it really is essential viewing.
