March 8th is International Women's Day, a time where we can celebrate and lift the voices of all the women who have paved the way for others in a bid for equality for all. There's always been a gender imbalance in skateboarding, but here are 5 things that have helped change that:

Stephanie Person- - WHAT YOU DIDN'T READ IN THRASHER!

Stephanie Person was the first black female pro skater in the 80s. In an interview with the equally iconic Cindy Whitehead, Stephanie talks about how she fought her way into the skate scene as one of only three girls at the time, sponsorships and the darker issues Thrasher wouldn't print in the interview.
