Back in olden times, in those long forgotten days of yore, before Instagram, Tiktok and Skibidi toilet rizz, there used to be these things called 'skate videos.'Now, we know that reference sounds crazy, like coal fires, outdoor toilets and typewriters, but bear with us! The premise was simple but brilliant; to create these "skate videos," exceptionally talented skateboarders would spend a few years in the company of a professional video camera operator, capturing and collating their very best stunts (in landscape of course!), before their "footage" was lovingly edited together to music, exported onto a video tape or "digital video disc" and then sold to entertain and inspire skaters the world over. This is exactly what Daniel Wheatley has done with Mingus Gamble, Matlok Bennett Jones, Charlie Birch, Tom Knox, Casper Brooker and more (short of the selling it on DVD of course, YouTube makes a bit more sense in 2024). We know, compared to knocking out a double flip trick down the local for the 'gram, it sounds like way too much effort. It'll never catch on...
