Helena Long goes pro for Poetic Collective
Yesterday Route One pro team member Helena Long announced that she has turn pro for Swedish skate brand Poetic Collective. It’s been a big year for Helena, with video parts in Poetic Collective’s ‘Fluid’, Vans ‘Credits’ Front cover for Grey Skateboard Magazine and so much more!
We caught up with her quickly to find out about the good news…. 
Yes Helena! Congratulations!! Did you know it was coming?
I did a little as I was asked about a photo of my favourite U.K. spot or something that reminds me of skating back home - so I went for classic British paving that’s everywhere and classic run up to spots. But I didn’t know when the boards were actually dropping for the winter and the public to see!
How long have you been riding for Poetic Collective?
I’ve been riding for them for about a year but been a big fan and supporter of what they do for a while now.
What made you join the team? Did you approach them or they approach you?
Tom who runs the company approached me but I was equally in admiration for the clothes, boards and team they have. Once I felt comfortable leaving Santa Cruz U.K. who were supporting before, I jumped ships.
We love the board! Can you tell us a little bit about the design?
Tom wanted to keep a consistent theme across all the pro boards so he made some beautiful paintings for one half of the boards, the second half was a photo that was more personal to us as individuals. I couldn’t decide on a favourite skate spot so I went for classic British/London paving slabs I’ve always had to ride over.
Despite 2020 being a bit crazy, we've seen some big things from you this year. What has been the highlights?
I think everyone being around all the time and catching up with all the U.K. heads who’d normally be away travelling. Been really fun going on crew missions with friends around a quieter city.
And lastly, what's on the cards for 2021?
Absolutely no idea! Covid compliant it’ll be just more of the same skating, filming trying to get photos. If free to travel again I’d definitely like to be doing more of that :)
