Introducing the POGO, an all-new silhouette from Nike SB designed to bridge the gap between traditionally gendered footwear constructions and spotlight the requirements of all skaters as individuals. We all have different feet, so our shoes should reflect that, right? The POGO defies convention, inspired and designed by female and non-binary skaters who (quite literally) don’t fit the mould set by skate shoe stereotypes; not all women have narrow feet, so skate shoe design should accommodate for that! Offering a pleasurable skateboarding experience for all is at the core of the POGO’s design process, footwear that encourages personal progression and the growth of skateboarding as a whole by being as openly accessible as possible.
One thing we do all have in common, however, is the challenge of skateboarding: concrete always feels like concrete, regardless of gender or ability, and learning a new trick always takes time, dedication, and the support of your crew. The POGO is about celebrating the process, the unifying power of falling, laughing with friends, and trying again. Everybody bails and everybody has their off moments, even the pros… dusting ourselves off and giving it another go is our true test as skateboarders, it makes us strong, it unites us, and it makes us human. Watch some of the Route One team embracing the bail wearing the POGO.
