In the eleven or so years we've been producing our series of Route One Interviews we've had our fair share of favourites; catching up with affable souls whose ability to tell a story and willingness to engage makes them the perfect focus for our probing questioning and passion for the people who shape modern skateboarding. Right at the top of that pile is our old friend, Primitive Skateboards' main man Paul Rodriguez, sitting down with us now for a record fourth time!
And whilst Nike SB pro Paul is the consummate professional, able to hold court and articulately rep the interests of his sponsors, he's also just a thoroughly interesting and friendly guy. Joining us in the basement of our Seven Dials store, it really was a case of old mates catching up over a coffee, as Paul filled us in on how excited he is to be back travelling after the lockdowns of the past two years, the pride he feels with what Primitive has become and even who he'd hypothetically poach if circumstances allowed (don't worry Ian Deacon).
In town for the UK Premiere of DEFINE, Primitive's brand new full length, Paul and the boys took time out of their day to meet hundreds of waiting fans, but not before we'd had the chance to listen to him wax lyrical about the endearing quality of full length videos, life as he approaches 40 and his hopes to film his own standalone part before the year is out.
Click play now to hear all that and more in Paul Rodriguez: The DEFINE Interview!
Special thanks to Primitive Skateboards, Paul Rodriguez, Alan Hannon, Peter Artiga, Alex Cock and Nineteen76 Distribution.
