Meet the guys breathing life into old boards.

Jan 2021 by Kay Russant

Wondering what to do with your old deck? At Route One we’ve been running our ‘Deck Cycle’ Scheme in our stores, collection all your old worn out boards and passing them on to our pals at Re:Ply to work their magic and give your decks a second chance.

Re:Ply started in 2010 from a garage in Glasgow where Danny Aubrey reshaped an old sentimental deck to give it a new lease of life to just cruise through town. As a music student, Danny learned about the DIY ethic in the punk scene and decided to incorporate that into the skate world. building a brand from scratch, printing t-shirts and reshaping old decks for people who wanted to re-use them. 10 year's later and Re:Ply are leading the way with repurposed and sustainable skateboarding in the UK.

Sustainability is key for Re:Ply, making sure that the whole process is better for the environment, not just the re-use of the deck. all the grip tape taken off the old boards are used for sandpaper and the offcuts are donated to No Comply Jewellery to use. All the varnish and printing are all sustainable and kinder to the environment, with no plastics and water-soluble varnishes.

We've just restocked the Re:Ply collection, featuring their classic popsicle shapes and bright graphics. Each board is reworked and finished by hand so that you get something truly unique as well as something that's helping offset waste.
